What is a heic file?

A HEIC (High-Efficiency Image Container) file is a type of image format developed by the MPEG (Moving Picture Experts Group) as a more efficient alternative to the widely used JPEG format. HEIC files use advanced compression algorithms that allow them to store more image data in a smaller file size, resulting in faster loading times and reduced storage space requirements. HEIC files also support advanced features like transparency, 16-bit color depth, and multi-image sequences. However, some devices and software may not yet support HEIC files, and they may need to be converted to another format for compatibility.
